Swansea City could lose Marvin Emnes
Swansea City may lose striker Marvin Emnes because of new Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray calling him back to his parent club.
It is thought that Mowbray wants to judge his whole squad after taking over the side from former manager Gordon Strachan. This would mean Swansea losing Emnes after his initial 28-day loan at the Welsh
club is over.
"I'd like to take a look at all of them and assess them, to be fair to the whole squad. But Marvin is on a 28-day loan and we can't bring him back before that," said Mowbray.
The news will be a blow to Swansea because Emnes has been a key feature in the club since he made the switch. However, Swansea does have enough cover to cope without the striker when he leaves and there
is always the possibility that he could return at a later date.
A blow
It's perfectly reasonable for Mowbray to want to take a look at his whole squad at some point during the early days of his managerial reign. It seems likely he'll do this at the earliest available opportunity.
Emnes is currently one of the best players in Swansea. He is fast, agile and a good thinker and his goal against Leicester City at the weekend proved he has a good killer instinct in front of goal.
There is a good chance that Emnes will be allowed to re-sign for Swansea once Mowbray has completed his initial review of the squad. His move back to Middlesbrough could be temporary and there may even
be a chance that the parties agree a loan deal until the end of the season.
"It's only fair to the players who are out on loan to bring them back and assess them. We will certainly send someone out to have them watched where they are but I would prefer to have them back here,"
added the Middlesbrough boss.
Betting advice
Swansea still has great strikers like Scott Sinclair to lead the attack when Emnes is forced back to Middlesbrough. Don't change betting patterns with the attack.
