Swansea City winger Scott Sinclair happy about leaving Chelsea
Former Blues winger http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Scott-Sinclair-c32675 revealed he did not regret leaving English Premier League giants Chelsea for newly promoted side Swansea City. The 22-year-old English forward felt young players did not stand a chance at regular football at Stamford Bridge,
which is why he had decided to leave in the summer of 2010.
Sinclair transferred to Chelsea in 2005 from Bristol http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 and had to wait until 2007 before he could make his debut for the senior team. A short while after making his debut for the Blues, Sinclair was loaned out to Plymouth Argyle.
Sinclair did well at the Championship side, making 15 appearances in the league and scoring 2 goals. At the end of the season, the youngster returned to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 where he mostly made substitute appearances. That summer Sinclair was given a new contract and
was even given a start in a Carling Cup fixture.
Close to the next transfer window, Sinclair was once again made available to be sent out on a loan move to Championship sides. While Leicester City were interested in bringing him on, Chelsea decided on a deal with Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314.
After a relatively quite spell with QPR, Sinclair made his way to Charlton Athletic where he made just three substitute appearances before joining Crystal Palace on yet another loan move until the end of 2007-2008 season, where he played more of a role than
with the last two clubs.
A short return to Stamford Bridge was followed by a loan spell to Birmingham City, returning to the London club once again in the summer of 2009. While he was selected to go on the pre-season tour with the team by then manager Carlo Ancelotti, it was revealed
he was set to be loaned out once again, this time to Wigan Athletic.
It was after the season long spell with Wigan Athletic, where Sinclair scored 2 goals in 22 appearances, that the winger decided he wanted to part ways with the Blues because of lack of first team opportunities given to young players at the club.
Sinclair transferred to Swansea City, this time on a permanent move, signing a three year deal with the then Championship side. He made 50 appearances and scored an impressive 27 goals, proving he was capable of finding the back of the net on a regular basis
when given the opportunity.
He played an important role in helping his side move up to the English Premier League, and the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 under-21 international insisted he had no regrets about leaving Chelsea even though the new manager Andre Villas-Boas has shown his inclination
towards young players.
Sinclair said while speaking to reporters:
“Would I have got a chance at Chelsea under Andre Villas-Boas?
It depends what you mean by chance. To me, 10 minutes here and there is not a chance. A chance is playing week in, week out.
They have some great quality youngsters but it's very difficult for them to get in.”
