Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins revealed that the club has signed a deal with Brendan Rodgers, which will keep him from luring players from the Liberty Stadium to Anfield for a 12-month period.
The Northern Irishman parted ways with the Welsh club after penning a three-year deal with the Reds. He is reported to have convinced three members of his management staff at Swansea to join him at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809.
Rodgers, who managed the Swans for two years after taking over the reins of the Welsh club in July 2010, was a popular and influential figure amongst the players. In order to ensure that his departure from the Liberty Stadium does not have disastrous ramifications
for the club, Jenkins revealed that they have signed an agreement with him which will bar him from using his influence to lure the players to Anfield.
While talking to reporters, he said: “We have got some protection on Brendan coming back for our players in the initial period, which I think is the right thing.”
The Swans chairman also indicated that the deal will serve as a respite for the otherwise disappointed club fans, to get an assurance that they won’t be hit by another setback.
He added, “He has got a timescale to assess things there and that is going to take him while so I’ve got no worries there. We have got a 12 month respite.”
Earlier, some rumours were doing the rounds in the media circles that the Swans prolific midfielder Joe Allen might part ways with the club after Rodgers departure.
Nevertheless, Jenkins admitted that he was thoroughly disappointed to lose Rodgers from the management, as he believed that he would go on to build his successes at the Liberty Stadium.
However, he mentioned that he fully respected the decision made by the 39-year old and offered him his best wishes in his future endeavours.
He added, “I think that naturally he has got massive belief in his ability and he felt that if he was the right candidate he would go forward.”
“The reality is that everyone has ambition and sometimes that ambition has to be realized.”
