http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Danny-c10193 Graham struck a goal in the dying moments of the game to help Swansea City edge Liverpool 1-0 in the final game of the season at the Liberty Stadium, and finish the table at the eleventh spot.
In the process, the Welsh side consigned the Reds to their 14th league defeat of the season. Liverpool finished the table at the 8th place with 52 points, four short of their local rivals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019 who claimed the 7th place
in the standings.
The boss at Anfield, Kenny Dalglish said in the post match interview, “We won’t run away from the points tally or hide or say the points tally is satisfactory to anyone who works for or supports Liverpool Football Club. We will face up to reality. The performances
have been excellent in a lot of cases but not the points tally, so we will try our best to correct that.”
The visitors, who looked completely out of sorts for a major portion of the game, were forced on the defences early on as Swansea started the game ominously. Graham got at the end of Joe Allen cross, after http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jonjo-Shelvey-c19081 was dispossessed by the midfielder,
but failed to hit the target from his effort.
The hosts were then awarded an in-direct free-kick inside the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Doni-c11553 who was shown a yellow card for his illegitimate action. However, the Swans failed
to make the most of the ensuing set piece.
Gylfi Sigurdsson then came close of scoring from another free-kick in the 32nd minute, but his shot was splendidly kept at bay by the Reds shot stopper.
Liverpool’s best chance came in the 40th minute to Carroll, who failed to test http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michel-Vorm-c25482 from a shot from inside the six-yard box.
The visitors started the second half proceedings on a positive note. Carroll directed a header towards the far post which was somehow blocked by Steven Caulker. The Englishman then pulled off a spectacular bicycle kick only minutes later, but was denied
by a good save from the hosts’ goalkeeper.
Another spell of attacking football from Liverpool then saw both http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Craig-Bellamy-c9471 and Carroll fail to break the deadlock, with the former dragging his shot wide of the mark, while Carroll’s attempt was again kept out of harms way by Vorm.
However, with the game seemingly heading towards a 0-0 draw, Angel Rangel picked up a pass to an unmarked Graham inside the box, who slotted the ball into the bottom right corner of the goal in the 86th minute to stun the Reds. The goal proved
to be decisive as Swansea eked out their 12th league win of the season, and finished ahead of Norwich City and Sunderland at the eleventh place.
