Question:

Swapping Ohio plates for Pennsylvania plates?

I recently moved from Cleveland to the Philadelphia suburbs and I'm having a hard time figuring out how to swap my plates. I was able to get my pennsylvania DL, but the guy behind the counter was about as helpful as a migraine when I asked him about getting PA plates.

He told me I'd need to drive way the h**l out to Harrisburg (which I think is an hour away, at least) to get the plates, and that Penndot's location in Harrisburg is the ONLY location in the entire state of Pennsylvania where you can get plates. This can't be right! How do they expect an entire state to drive into one location to get their plates?

A friend of mine tells me I could go to an independent location to get them, that people open up their own pa liscence plate businesses - which would save me a long drive. But an hour in the phonebook and on google didn't yeild a single independent plate location.

Ohio let you get plates and a liscence in the same office, it was easy as h**l. This is just c**p.

Thanks in advance for any tips/help! I'll really appreciate it if you guys save me from the drive out to harrisburg!

  1. Ugh, this is one of the reasons i moved away from PA. The DMV is only for getting your license  there and nothing else which i totally agree with you IS DUMB and i don't know why they don't take care of everything there.

What my husband and I were told to go to get plates and stickers were to go to a notary. Most notaries that do this advertise in the yellow pages, just look under notary.

Isn't it crazy and backwards!! I feel for you girl i really do.

    Good luck
