I'm pretty sure you can collect unemployment.

The only way you can't collect unemployment is if you quit voluntarily or you were fired b/c you just stopped showing up to work.

Hello - You should apply for unemployment right away.  Check your state website for direction how to do that, or include your state in the note and I can find you a link.  They will contact your prior employer and make a determination if you will get it or not.  Good luck.
