Swede peter Hanson hoping to land the Volvo China Open this week after a strong joint third in Masters
After pulling in his highest finish ever in a major event, Swede Peter Hanson is currently on a high tide and is hoping to bag the coveted Volvo China Open title this week in Tianjin.
Hanson posted a joint third at the Masters and is overjoyed with his blistering form at the start of the season.
Hanson finished behind the rampaging Louis Oosthuizen and the eventual winner of the green jacket, Bubba Watson and was thrilled by the prospects of coming so close of winning the title.
He said, “I am very proud of the performance. I have to say that I was a little bit disappointed when I walked off that 18th green on the Sunday but that left me pretty quick. I still had a smile on my face when I was driving the car home on the Monday as
I realised had a great weekend and a great tournament”.
Winner of ten professional events in his comparatively short career, Hanson has won four times on the European Tour.
He also had the honour of representing Europe in the 2010 Ryder Cup where he guided the team to a magical success over the Americans.
The 36-year-old Swede has done well since the start of the current season and has posted strong finishes in WGC events apart from his all time high of Masters.
He is currently poised at number four on the Race to Dubai Rankings and has a strong chance of making it back in the Ryder Cup team this year.
He added, “Hopefully I can build on that for this week and then the Majors for the rest of the year. And the Ryder Cup again obviously”.
The burly Swede also lauded Volvo’s continuous support of the event and considered it as a matter of pride and honour that the automobile manufacturing giant is based in his home country.
He said, “They have always been great and it is one of those events where you look forward to”.
The star-studded event is already underway at the scenic Binhai Lake Golf Club designed by the world renowned Pete Dye.
