Sweden hosted an experimental England side at their new stadium for last night’s round of international friendlies.

The big Swede was on another planet and put in an absolutely stunning performance. He scored his first through a superb finish and added two more to round off his hat-trick. The striker than scored a spectacular and otherworldly acrobatic overhead kick from
25-yards out that brought England’s misery to an end.
England did manage 2 goals of their own, but they weren’t enough to earn them a result. Let’s have a look at how the England players managed on the night.

An uncharacteristically poor performance by the England shot-stopper, Hart did not have a good night. He could do nothing about the first goal, but was at fault for Ibrahimovic’s fourth where he came off his line and failed to clear the ball, allowing the
Swede to score his stunning fourth.

The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 centre-back had a mix-up with Hart, and never really settled into the game. He cause problems throughout for his own team, and was far from convincing.

The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 right-back saw plenty of the ball, and pushed forward with resolve and purpose. Johnson acted as support for Sterling on the right flank and had an overall decent game.

The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043 player was unable to push forward, and was often caught out of position. He did have an opportunity to set up a goal as he tucked in a dangerous early cross in the second half.
Steven Caulker – 6
The player continues to impress, and settled in quickly into the side. Caulker was unfortunate to have seen his block on Ibrahimovic lead to Sweden's first, but made amends by scoring from a Steven Gerrard free-kick to mark his first goal for the Three Lions.
Ashley Young – 7
The winger threatened http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sweden-c3015’s right-back all afternoon, and was accurate with his crosses. Young looked like getting back to his best and was part of a strong front three for England.

This marks the Everton player’s first England appearance, and he vindicated Roy Hodgson’s decision to start him. He provided England with an edge down the centre and his performance should earn him another call-up.
Raheem Sterling – 8
The highly rated Liverpool youngster looked calm and composed and put up a mature display for a 17-year old. Sterling provided England with directness and purpose down the right side. He was involved in most of their attacks and was impressive on the night.

The England captain made his 100th appearance for the national team and put in an excellent performance. His diagonal long balls were picture perfect and his delivery was deadly throughout. Gerrard got an assist for England’s second goal.

The Manchester United midfielder has so far failed to live up to the hype surrounding him, and was not very noticeable. He faded out as the game wore on, and never looked like he was comfortable.

The striker had a good game and was troubled Sweden's defenders at the front. He linked well with England’s midfielders and got a well-deserved goal for England’s first.

All three players were late substitutions, but were unable to affect the game and were overshadowed by Ibrahimovic’s presence on the pitch.
