Swedish Ramsay grabs early lead at Lalla Aicha Tour School 2013
The Lalla Aicha Tour School 2013 kicked off at the Amelkis Golf Club, Morocco this Thursday, with Swedish Isabella Ramsay grabbing an early lead after she posted a 65 in the first round.
The field for the LET (Ladies European Tour) Q School is featuring several talented players, and 60 of the total 141 contenders making the cut in the first four rounds will then head into
the fifth round.
According to the officials, top 30 contenders and those standing tied in the fifth round on Monday will be given the LET card for the 2013 season.
With the first round completed, it is hard to predict how the field is going to shape at the end of the fourth round. So far, Ramsay has done pretty well as she fully capitalised on the favourable
weather conditions.
The Swedish star started her campaign in style as she parred the first two holes. She then reeled off back-to-back birdies on the third and fourth hole, boosting her position on the leaderboard
early in the day.
Ramsay whipped up crowd excitement after she shot three straight birdies on the 6th, 7th and 8th hole. On the back nine, she kept the momentum rolling all
the way through, as she carded another three birdies.
Despite coming on strong on most of the holes, she made a few errors on the greens of some holes. A misjudged putt on the 18th set her back with a bogey.
Speaking to the media at the end of the round on Thursday, Ramsay said that she is happy to set the ball rolling and will try to maintain her lead in the next three rounds as well.
“Today we got a really great game plan (me and my caddy/brother),” said the 25-year-old who belongs to Brunnby and has won twice at the Swedish Nordea Tour.
She went on to say that she is being assisted greatly by her bagman, and this teamwork will continue in future as well.
“We are a team, so I felt pretty comfortable. We played the Pre-Q and also felt really good”.
Sweden has the largest representation in the ongoing Q School event, with 21 contenders vying for the LET membership for the next year.
