Sweet 16. Moulin Rouge. Help? Ideas?

Okay my sweet 16 is a year away and I want my theme to be french, moulin rouge. i want to make it classy and not look cheap. any ideas?? like what do you think of when you hear moulin rouge?? how should i decorate?? and like does n e one have any ideas for court dresses. and like my dress? (i'll have 2) thanks for help!! i will be choosing best answer!!

one dress should be red, the other one with ruffles or fringe.

Use the movie soundtrack for background music.

have tables set up to play card games/gamble/roll the dice

this is an amazing idea for a party! :) i understand that you don't want to make it cheap and trashy, so it's good to go with everything that's elegant and classy. the first thing you should is research online for costumes and dresses that are moulin rouge inspired (try watching the movie too! - if you haven't already). here are some links i found for you :))

decorate with a lot of black, red, & gold.

use fabrics like velvet, fur, and silk... very appropriate.

chandeliers are gorgeous!

lots of mirrors.

i would try to replacate a scene from the movie in the party for decorations. Like the elephant or something. You should wear the long white dress that she wears in the begging of the movie and the dress she wears in the en. I mean somehting similar. You need a lot of props. That is such a good theme.
