Question:

Sweet 16 Party Themes..?

by  |  earlier

I need some themes for my sweet 16.. It's in July so I was thinking luau.. But that's pretty common. So my other choice was like Retro.. and have like '60s music and disco balls and everything.. If you can think of anything else.. let me know.

But no color themes, and nothing too girly (no princess, pink, etc.)

I like music so if you can base a party off of that it would definatley be a plus..

Thanks in advance.

  1. Hollywood!!!  Let everyone dress up as their fav celeb and you can have your own award ceremony and make up your own categories and nominees and winners.  You could watch movies with your fav celebs and listen to the music of your fav celeb too if they sing.  Have fun with it and have a good safe time.

  2. Music can be encouporated any fashion that you want. The music doesn't have to match your theme...

My daughter is having a sweet 16 next month...here are the ideas she's throwing out....

    Army camflouge

    Punk rock

    Jungle theme

Red, White & Blue since it's in July.

    Black and white party...

70's Party. have guest wear bell bottoms, afros, big loop earrings, long eyelashes.

  3. i would just do a music party. get a good dj and have centerpieces on the tables, each of a different instrument or band. it depends on what your budget is. you will need to pay more for nice centerpieces

  4. OOh OOh OOh lol. you should do a matrix party. It would be really easy for everyone to show up in all black with their hair slicked back with and some really cool sun glasses, i think people would get into it. and you could wear a cute leather outfit.

if not that, some other movie theme would be good

  5. think of some stuff of her favorites such as animate or maybe a dress up party, or a pajama party. you can also try a barbecue party...its like putting some grill on your backyard and let the guest do the grilling of their own barbecue. you have to buy fresh meat and vegetables and do your own BBQ sauce. you also have to make a paper aprons for the guest and design it with her name and her favorite decors. it will be fun because all of the guest will participate.

  6. Old Hollywood starlette theme.

    Beach theme.

I think your retro theme is a good idea.

    Jungle theme

    Anime

    Fashion/Fashionista

Arts and crafts (you could have craft workshops here and there...)

Chose a country you really like (Italy..France..Latin countries) and theme it around their culture

    Toga party

    Fancy dressed

A theme around a tv show you particularely like and people dress up as characters, and you could decorate as if you were there in an episode.

What's your favourite hobby? A sport or pasttime you could use as a theme?

    A certain era (30s/50s/60s/70s/80s/90s?)

Good luck organising your big day :D and happy sweet sixteen

  7. The 60's were 2 different distinct eras (and Disco was the late 70's) ... early 60's is similar to the 50's, and late 60's is the Hippie era .......If you want a tropical theme, but don't want a luau (very overdone), how about Jamaican Reggae?
