  1. This theme is low budget so you picked a great theme.

Do you have a dollar tree dollar store near you?  They carry this whole party line including leis, grass skirts, invites, luau CD, tablecloths, plates, napkins, lights, wall signs, centerpieces, snack bowls, and so much more.

    OR PARTY SITES:

    oriental trading.

    shindigz.

    u.s. toy company

    card factory outlet

    partymerchant

    windy city novelities.

    party cheap

You can get all your favors at those sites.

Oriental trading has cute invites.  It is an invite in a bottle.

    cheaper:

    creative invite:

http://makeitforme.com/party_invitations...  Look through them to see the lei with the attached card.  You can make this yourself so cheap and it would be so different.

Or you could give a lei to your guests as they arrive.

    APPETIZERS

Cheap appetitizers that went over good at our sweet 16 party:

    Taco Dip:

    2 softened cream cheese.

    1 16oz sour cream

    1 packet taco seasoning.

Mix with mixer. Put in bottom of a cookie sheet. Top with shredded cheese, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes and green onions. Use the cheese but you can altered the rest to your taste, maybe add black olives. Make 2 of these. Serve with tostitos scoops.

    Fruit bowl,.

Whole pineppple into chunks. Slice strawberries. Add whole table grapes no seeds, add chunks of watermelon, and cut oranges in slices cut into triangles. This is best made the night before so that the juices can all run together and stir before serving.  To make  this look more Hawaii use the watermelon as a bowl http://www.dierbergs.com/NR/rdonlyres/et...

or do the same with the pineapple.

    Silver dollar rolls:

www.heb.com.  Put silver in the search bar so you can see the picture.

It is just shaved deli meat and cheese triangles. You dont have to put lettuce on them, ours did not have it. t. The ones that we had catered just had real butter on them and they had mayo and mustard packets on ice on the side.

PUPPY CHOW  -cheap, fast teen favorite!

    6 cups Crispix cereal

    1/2 cup peanut butter

    1/2 cup butter

    12 ounce chocolate chips

    2 cups powdered sugar

Melt peanut butter, butter and chocolate chips together in the microwave or on the stove. Stir into cereal. Put powdered sugar in a paper sack. Put cereal mixture in and shake until well coated.

Ask everyone on the invite to dress how you want them to, Hawaii attire, beach attire or if you want something more fancy resort attire.

    Fun game:

Buy a poster of a super cut popular famous boy or singer.  If it is coed get a girl one too.  You need a blindfold.  Get super red lipstick from the dollar store.  Smear it on spin them around  face them toward the poster and they have to kiss it.  The one who gets closest to the lips on the person on the poster wins.

Order or Make your own Hawaii Hershey candy bar wrappers.  Just get any thing from the dollar store that is hawaii print or even hawaii computer paper from the craft store.  Anyway remove the hershey wrapper,  just the brown part.  Use it as a template and use it to copy the size onto the hawaii paper and cut out.  Use double sided NOT FOAM  craft tape.  It is really thin to close them.  Before you do that put a "golden ticket or you could use a pineapple shape inside a few of them.  Then close them up and put the labels on them and hand them out later and have some small prizes for the ones who have the winning pineapplies.  They also have free printable templates for you to make on t he computer and you can personalized them with your name and add a hawaii clip art and use cool fonts.  Either way will be cute.

    Limbo

    Twister.

    Pinata

    Karoake.

We have done all that indoors.

    Great Hawaiian site:

  2. you can throw it at your neighborhood pool. if that is not an option, just ask everyone to dress up hawaiian and play hawaiian music and have hawaiian snacks

  3. Hawaiin skirts...flowers...beach food.

  4. Start with the luau theme and go to www.orientaltraders.com for leis, grass skirts, coconut shell drink containers, etc.

Serve luau type food, like pork BBQ sandwiches, plantain chips, and hawaian  chicken

    Pork:

5 lbs of pork roast (shoulder or butt are good)

1 (18 ounce) bottle of your favorite barbecue sauce

    2 large onions

    1 c. of ginger ale

    Directions

First you want to slice one onion and place in crockpot.

Then put in the roast and cover with the other onion, sliced.

    Add in the ginger ale.

Cover this and let this cook on LOW for about approx. 12 hours.

Now remove the meat, strain and save the onions getting rid of all liquid.

Then with your hands, shred the meat, discarding any remaining fat, bones or skin. Most of the fat will have melted away.

Next return the shredded meat and the onions to the crockpot, stir in the barbecue sauce. Continue to cook for aprox. 6 hours on LOW.

You can serve with hamburger buns or rolls and additional barbecue sauce. This freezes well.

    Chicken:

3 boneless skinless chicken b*****s, split

1 lb. kielbasa, cut into pieces

3 medium baking potatoes, halved lengthwise and thinly sliced

20 ounces of pineapple tidbits, drained

1/2 inch piece of ginger, grated

    1 garlic clove, minced

    2 tbs. dijon mustard

    soy sauce

    Pepper

    Paprika

    Directions

Slightly brown the chicken in a skillet (this will lock in the flavor)

Place all ingredients in the order listed inside the crock-pot and let cook for 6 hours on low.

    * there is no need to open the crock-pot to stir during the cooking time. A crock-pot will distribute heat evenly through all the food. Just opening a crock-pot for 10 seconds can greatly alter the temperature inside.

    Hawaiian Slaw

    4 CUPS SHREDDED CABBAGE

    1/2 TSP. SUGAR

    1 CUP CRUSHED PINEAPPLE (DRAINED)

    1/4 TSP. SALT

    1/2 C. MAYONNAISE

    DASH OF PEPPER

1 TBS. MILK (MIX WITH MAYO)

    DASH OF PAPRIKA

    1 TBS. VINEGAR

*The only time I have ever changed this recipe from the original is to add some slivered toasted almonds and some thinly sliced fresh green peppers (bell peppers).

Prep all of your vegetables and place into a large bowl.

Combine the remaining ingredients and pour over cabbage.

    Luau Cake

    1 package yellow cake mix

    1-1/4 cups cold milk

1 small package instant vanilla pudding mix

20 ounce can crushed pineapple drained

    1 envelope whipped topping mix

    3 ounces cream cheese softened

    1/4 cup sugar

    1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

    1/2 cup flaked coconut toasted

    Directions

Prepare and bake cake according to package directions using a rectangular cake pan.

    Cool completely.

In a bowl whisk together milk and pudding mix then let stand to thicken.

Stir in the pineapple and spread over cake.

Prepare whipped topping mix according to package directions then set aside.

In a mixing bowl beat cream cheese, sugar and vanilla until smooth.

Beat in 1 cup whipped topping then fold in remaining topping and spread over pudding. Sprinkle with coconut then cover and refrigerate 3 hours or overnight.

  5. tell guests that it is hawaiin themed so they can dress up. maybe you can put invitations in a bottle filled with a little bit of sand.

when guests are coming in, give them a lei around their neck. have hawaiin punch. have a fruit cake. reggaeton music, such as the ones on the "tropical thunder" cd. and thats all i can think of for now...

  6. Get a cheap pinyata,  set up limbo, make a fruit punch and get some of those little umbrellas to put in the glasses and a slice of store own tinned pineapple on the side. Put up colourful streamers.

Do you have a garden? If so buy a mini paddling pool I just got one from Wilkinson's for £3 (if your from the UK!)

  7. No problem...you can transform your party venue into a tiki hut by pasting scene setters and add-ons on your walls. for great hawaiian decorations, tableware, favours, costumes simply visit:

  8. take here out to a cheap restrant with her friends
