How do you make sweet and sour sauce?

  1. add some soy sauce and rice vinegar to apricot preserves.

    1/2 cup ketchup

    1 teaspoon salt

    1 small onion

    1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce

    3 tablespoons lemon juice

    1 cup water

    1 teaspoon chili powder

    1 tablespoon cornstarch, in about

    1/4 cup water (approximate)

    1boil together then thicken with cornstarch to desired thickness

  3. I use this basic sweet and sour sauce for preparing chicken ,eggs and prawn.

    Put some white oil/butter and then saute garlic paste and little bit ginger paste now add a cup of tomato puree in it.Stir this well, add

    little water in the mixture and let it boil for 2 to 3 min.Now you add (2tsp/or more according to taste) of sugar,salt according to taste and then add juice of half lemon.Cherish this sauce with your favourite veg or non veg items.

  4. 1/2 cup white vinegar, 3 Tblsp sugar, 3 Tblsp ketchup, 1/2 teasp salt. - put it in a pan and bring to the boil then add some cornstarch tat has been mixed in with a little water and keep stirring so it doesnt get lumpy and stop when you achieve desired thickness. Cornstarch only starts to thicken once the mixture boils so be careful not to add too much.  In the end if you want to then you can add some pineapple pieces and/or green bell pepper slices.

    Sweet and Sour Pork

    For pork:

    1 pound lean pork, cut into thin strips or cubes

    2 Tbsp. ground ginger (or fresh)

    ¼ cup soy sauce

    1/2 cup a/p flour

    ¼ cup corn starch

    4 cups oil

    For sauce:

    2 Tbsp. soy sauce

    1/2 cup rice vinegar

    1/2 cup sugar

    1 red and 1 green bellpepper, sliced thinly

    1 small onion, cut into strips

    1 can pineapple chunks, drained (reserve juice)

    ¼ cup corn starch

    Combine pork with ginger and soy sauce for 15 to 20 minutes. Mix the flour and ¼ cup corn starch together then toss with the pork. Be sure every piece of pork is coated by the flour mixture. Place oil in frying pan and heat to med-high.  Fry the pork in batches; fry until a crust forms and is golden brown. Remove meat and drain

    Meanwhile, in saucepan, place sugar, vinegar, and soy sauce.  Bring to a boil and stir until sugar dissolves.  Add onions, bellpeppers, and pineapple chunks.   Mix ¼ cup cornstarch w/ pineapple juice, add to sauce and stir well. Bring to a boil for 1 minute until sauce thickens, remove from heat.  Serve pork chunks over steamed rice topped with sweet & sour sauce.
