Sweet corn vs Field corn?

I've heard Sweet corn has odd number of rows while

filed corn has even number of rows.

Is there any truth in this?

There are many different types of corn.  The most notable include Sweet Corn.  This is the traditional favorite, eaten off the cob with butter and salt, and found in supermarkets and roadside stands everywhere.  Sweet corn is so named because of its high sugar content.  It is seldom used for purposes other than direct human consumption.  Dent Corn, also known as Field Corn is the corn of choice for livestock feed and industrial products.

  4. No. The number of rows is dependent on the variety and is not 100% consistent within that variety. Look in seed catalogs and you will see the description as something like this. " 14-16 rows "

    Open pollinated types which many feild corn will be, in general more variable than hybrids.
