YES. What people don't think when it comes to defense is counter-punching and using great footwork. some PW did have a great deal of. his agility and speed  made him hard to hit and slippery added with his equally fast hands was a defensive nightmare

In my opinion Pernell is in the top 3 greatest defensive boxers of all time. He had the ability to make even the most dangerous and accurate punchers look foolish (De La Hoya at times) I'm not sure we'll anyone as good defensively as Pernell for quite some time.
