Sweet sixteen troubles: what's a good SIMPLE idea?

So, my sweet sixteen is almost here, but what to do? I've been to about a gazillion this year, and almost all of them were dinner parties- expensive, boring dinner parties. Okay, so they weren't boring, but I didn't have the time of my life... I want mine to be memorable and fun! My sisters offered to have a fancy dinner/shopping/spa day in san fran and then spend the night, but that's wayyy to much for my taste. Not to mention, I have a lot of close friends and I don't want to have to make decisions on who to cut from the invite list. So now I'm thinking barbeque in the park, but I'm not sure how fun that would be! SUGGESTIONS PLEASEEE!! :)

oh and btw, just so you can get to know what my idea of the perfect party would be, I originally wanted to go paintballing with a bunch of friends, but it would have been way too expensive if I wanted to invite 30-40 people!

  1. How about a fun themed party? This article offers some great unique ideas:

    Have Fun! :)

  2. How can a picnic in the park not be fun with all your friends around.

Set up some volleyball nets, a croquet game, badminton,

    get a softball game started.

Maybe you could get some water balloons and have a water balloon fight, or even have everyone bring a supersoaker.. only if you want to get messy though.

Have the food catered in.. or  get someone to do the BBQ.

That sounds like lots of fun

  3. I would do the barbecue.  With the addition of a water fight.  Everyone come in their bathing suits, with a super soaker.  You can have tons of water balloons ready before it starts.  Seperate everyone into teams, like maybe guys against girls, and use the park like your own obstacle course.  Make it like, 2 hits, and you're out or something.  The winning team gets to throw whipped cream pies onto the other team or something. Do something silly like that, and everyone will have a lot of laughs, and that's what they'll remember most.  And since they'll all work up a big appetite and thirst doing all that running around, make sure the food is really good, and that you have plenty of canned drinks and bottled water.

  4. Hello, Happy sweet 16! Pool Party would be a cool idea. Cook out and invite as many people as you want.

  5. Hey Hun, Happy Sweet 16! i remember when i had my 16th i was pretty low on cash so i had a slumber party with my closest friends,

    we had BBQ for dinner,

we played pass the parcel(lame i no but it really went off at the party) we had a scavenger hunt around the house (like hiding clues in the letter box, car, dishwasher, ect leading up to one huge prize)

we had a pinata which was a great way for us to get heaps of lollies ready to watch the movie with!

then we had about 6 double matresses lined up with heaps of pillows so that we could have a huge slumber fest

oh yea and everyone had to come in there pajamas
