Question:

Swelling around the eye?

it starting as just eye irritation but it started to swell in the 2 or 3 days i've had it. it's extremely itchy but i've resisted by icing it. well, it's not extreme swelling but minor for now. the only reasons i could think of is because for the last few days i've gone swimming in a water park, typoon lagoon for the fist time after a year and/or because of the raw mushrooms i ate. though i know i'm not allergic to cooked mushrooms but it was my first time eating raw ones. the worst part is is that i start school in 2 days and i have sunburn and swelling on my face!

So Please anything to help?!?!?!

  1. Okay sorry:)  Your sclera is the white of your eyes.  Pink Eye is an infection where the white of your eye turns pinkish red.  You would notice "gunk" in your eye.  Maybe in the morning your eye may be hard to open.  Chlorine is a chemical in pools that help keep it free from germs.  But some people can get bad irritation in their eyes from that chemical.  Which could be the cause of the swelling as well.  If its still swollen I would keep a cold washcloth on it at different time through the day.  Cold will help with the swelling.  Good luck and sorry about the previous answer.

Is there any redness to your sclera or drainage?  If so you could have Conjunctivitis ( Pink Eye ).  I don't think this would have anything to do with a mushroom.  Chlorine although could be the culprit.  You need to see your doctor.  But in the mean time keep your hands washed and you can put clean cold wash rags over your eye.  Cold will help reduce swelling.  Good luck and hang in there.

  2. It is probably a stye which is an infection of the sebaceous glands at the base of the eyelashes.
