i have received a blister on my foot from the beach about 3 days ago. today i visited my doctor and he prescribed ALTABAX to prevent an infection. i applied the medication about 30 minutes ago and to my astonishment, my foot was beginning to swell up. i immediatly removed the band-aid, as well as took peroxide and antibacterial soap to the open blister to wash off all medication. i'm worried. what should i do for the night? let it air out and wait? thanks for your help.

  1. Call your doctor and visit an after hours clinic or the ER.

  2. call your doctor

Either its an allergy or the infection is getting worse.

As long as you do not have any conditon that precludes the use of antihistamines you might also try loading up on benadryl or claritin, and maybe letting the foot soak in cold water to minimize the swelling.

But you do need further contact with the doctor to treat your problem(s).
