Swift Emma soon led and out of the blue presented a hit for J R Grant in the Kennett Cup Final
The Poole racing course bestowed an astonishing result in the Kennett Cup Finale, when Swift Emma unexpectedly delivered a tremendous hit with her surprisingly speedy pace.
Trainer J R Grant, keeping his fingers crossed throughout the race, at last was relieved when his two-year-old won the purse in presence of the 1/1 favourite, Wise Totty.
Wearing white and black jacket, Swift Emma railed through trap 3 in a nice manner, gradually boosting up her energy, which helped her in leading the pack of five hounds.
Covering the distance in 39.28 seconds, the black b***h fortunately won the purse worth £1,000 for trainer J R Grant.
Overthrowing her male contender, Fiddlers Green, by 4 ¾ lengths, the two-year-old black hound was forced to finish second in the Kennett Cup final.
Although the trap 6 racer kept on running as fast as he could, at the final stages of the race, his primary sluggish pace imposed a worse impact on his performance.
Covering the 640 meters distance in 39.67 seconds, the hound finished second for trainer J M Burridge.
Wishing for double delights, trainer J M Burridge sadly did not receive any impressive result from any of his other hounds in the race.
J M Burridge was assuming that his black b***h, Uncle Susan, will make his day by winning, but as the four-year-old railed through trap 5, she eventually got crowded by 1 whole length.
Though the 25/1 ideal hound started her race very promptly, her speedy pace got broken and she ended up third in 39.81 seconds.
P V Swadden’s Wise Totty was in the race as a 1/1 favourite. The black b***h, being the most favourite, finished fourth by 1 ¼ lengths.
The reason for her defeat was the crowdedness which she faced during 1 whole length.
Starting her chase from trap 1, the unlucky hound managed to cover the required distance in 39.90 seconds.
Handy Hondo, a shoulder away from Wise Totty, sadly finished fifth for trainer P J Ruddick.
Racing for the purse from trap 2, the 11/4 favourite fawn dog got crowded as he railed through the dirt.
The two-year-old hound covered the distance in 39.91 seconds, finishing as the second last hound.
Following Handy Hondo by a distance of 2 ½ length was Firetrap.
The last one to get hold of the finish line was in the race as a 15/2 favourite. J M Burridge’s third hound also disappointed him badly by finishing sixth.
As he came through trap 4, Firetrap got crowded by 1 length, crossing the wire in 40.10 seconds.
Apart from the lucky winner, Swift Emma, who took £1,000 home for trainer J R Grant, the runner-up, Fiddlers Green, was rewarded £150, whereas the rest of the participants were given £100 each.
