Swift Lesson manoeuvred his way to victory in the 515m Grade A2 race at Hove
The son of Kinloch Brae out of Swift Blitz, Swift Lesson achieved first position in the 515 meter long Grade A2 race at Hove on Sunday, January 8, 2012.
He was sent off with the odds of 7 to 4 – the highest starting price by any contestant in the heat. The hound lived up to expectations, and sealed the victory by covering the distance in 30.13 seconds.
Soon after coming out of the trap number three, the dog took advantage and sustained his lead till the finishing point. His trainer, A E Gardiner was jubilant to see his hound scooping £129 – the cash prize for the winner of the race.
The second place in the list was secured by, Seven Of Spades, the rampant b***h is trained by D D Knight. The daughter of Westmead Hawk out of Moher Lass, broke from trap number four, with the starting price of 5 to 2. She clocked the distance in 30.25
seconds, and locked the runner up place in an exciting heat.
Helenas Impact finished third in the list, with the finishing time of 30.35 seconds. With odds of 7 to 1, he was the least favourite contestant in the race, however, he performed better than expected.
It was a neck to neck contest between Guinness Joker, and Get On Daisy - the two hounds are trained by the same person, S A Cahill. However, the fourth position eventually went to Guinness Joker, who began the race from trap number six. He was sent
off with the odds of 6 to 1, and crossed the finish line in 30.41 seconds.
Guinness Joker’s decent performance was a surprise for the spectators, as he beat Get On Daisy, and Woodmancote Gem – the two hounds with high starting prices than him.
With the finishing time of 30.44 seconds, Get On Daisy could only manage to get fifth position in the race. Her chances to win were 5 to 1, and she started off the party from trap number two.
The last position belonged to, Woodmancote Gem, who kicked off the race from trap number one. His starting price was 4 to 1, and the son of Ballymac Maeve out of Westmead Oak, crossed the wire in 30.60 seconds.
It was Swift Lesson’s second back-to-back victory in the ongoing year. With two consecutive wins at the start of the season, the dog has established himself as one of the strongest competitors at this level.
