Swift victory is a perfect Match at Belle Vue
Every greyhound race contains similar key elements. They include, but are not limited to excitement, action, victory, defeat, and most importantly, speed. The dog with highest speed often
wins the race, and that is an accurate description of what happened in some of this afternoon’s races at Belle Vue Greyhound Stadium in Manchester.
The first 470m race of the day’s card saw a heavily-favoured dog earn a terrific victory. The dog in question was Swift Match, a 9-4 favourite. He bounded out of trap two and moved slowly
away from the rest of the pack. He didn’t let some eventual crowding get in his way, as he led the run in to earn a first-place finish in 29.15 seconds.
Autumn Hope (5-1) led second, and picked up a second-place finish in 29.21. Only ¾ lengths separated her from the number one position. Placing third was Emerson Tobias (5-1), who was 2
½ lengths behind second place with a time of 29.41.
In fourth place was Charltons Anne, the 10-1 long shot. Despite a clear run, she finished 3 lengths out of the top three in 29.65. Maroulla (5-2) took the number five position in 29.75,
which was 1 ¼ lengths behind Charltons Anne. Beckhams Major (3-1) failed to bend it like his namesake, and crowded second to take last place. He finished in 29.85, placing him 1 ¼ lengths out of fifth place.
The A2 race saw another favourite take home a close victory. Noirs Factor carried 11-4 odds into this race as the favourite and lay claim on the victory by completing the race in 28.38.
An early pace from trap one and a lead at first were instrumental in his win.
Killea Hawk (7-2) looked good with a 28.44 finish to lock up second place. He was ¾ lengths behind the winner, and ran on from trap three. Third place belonged to 9-2 long shot Pennys
Dusty, who bumped first en route to a 28.52 finish that was one length behind Killea Hawk.
Crowding at the quarter mark led Robinho (4-1) to a fourth-place finish today. His 28.62 finishing time put him 1¼ lengths out of the third position. Woodsgift Romeo (8-1) was 1 length
behind Robinho in 28.70 to finish in fifth.
Bringing up the rear was Best Friend (7-2), who was no one’s best friend after he finished in last place. He crowded and fell at first, and could never make up the lost time, as he finished
19¾ lengths behind fifth place in 30.28.
Swift Match is on a hot streak right now, and hopes to add to that when the races at Belle Vue Greyhound Stadium resume tomorrow evening. The races will begin at 19:25 with an A9 race.
