Question:

Swim Team?

I joined my HS swim team (my 1st yr competitive swim) this year and I really like it. I'd really like to continue swimming and conditioning. I'm thinking about joining a club swim team. Yes, I KNOW that it is a lot more tough than HS, and I'll be with younger kids b/c of my skill lvl (not so great). Suggestions? Opinions? I was also considering HS water polo (for conditioning) but this may be easier. not sure.

my times:

50 free- 34.73 sec

100 free- 1.19.50

Free is my best stroke, and I can also do backstroke and breaststroke ok/pretty well. Butterfly I can manage to get by, but I don't think I'm doing it right.

Thanks!

  1. joining a summer league team would really help. and water polo is so much fun!!! but its also really exhausting!!! def. do water polo. my swim team has post season and my coach decided to do some water polo with it and its a blast!!!

  2. hey i'm a swimmer too. I think you should give a club a try even if your level isnt 'so great'. just give it a go and if you still like it, continue and increase your training sessions and soon you could be entering competitions with the right coach. If not, swimming is a great sport and its fun and keeps you fit, so you could just do fitness squad.

    Hope this helps =]

  3. you could try swimming in the summer (a summer club team).  It will help you get in super shape for HS team.

i don't think younger kids is a problem, as long as you don't make it a problem.  just go and have fun and train and you'll improve

  4. Do you have a JC around you? Some colleges and swim club that people can join and them have like meets. Its fun and you might not even be the youngest  its all ages

    Hope this helps

  5. i am also a swimmer, and i must say that if you joined your hs swim team might as well join a summer swim club coz i am sure that you will be able to shape up and learn more in swimming.

when i was in highschool i was also a member of our schools swim team but at the same time i was a member of another team where in i competed in the nationals, so i think it'll be an advantage for you..

also don't think about the kids coz there are some kids in swim camps or clubs who are much better than i am and it was my motivation to work more so that i can beat them with their time
