Swim Team...?

I joined my HS swim team (my 1st yr competitive swim) this year and I really like it. I'd really like to continue swimming and conditioning. I'm thinking about joining a club swim team. Yes, I KNOW that it is a lot more tough than HS, and I'll be with younger kids b/c of my skill lvl (not so great). Suggestions? Opinions? I was also considering HS water polo (for conditioning) but this may be easier. not sure.

my times:

50 free- 34.73 sec

100 free- 1.19.50

Free is my best stroke, and I can also do backstroke and breaststroke ok/pretty well. Butterfly I can manage to get by, but I don't think I'm doing it right.

Thanks!

  1. Join the club. It will kick your **** but it'll make you a much better swimmer. Try to get as much out of the technique aspect as you can. Also, moderate weight lifting with light weights wouldn't be a bad idea.

Try getting better at other strokes. It will give your mind and body a break from the habit of freestyle but still condition you for swimming. Who knows, maybe your a breast stroker at heart.

  2. The longer you are with it, the time will fall.  The better you can hold your first breath helps your time drop too.  Lots of conditioning, and off season, running is good.

  3. I think you should it makes you a lot better and a lot faster lol im a freshmen and im on the top of varsity! And dont worry about swimming with younger kids a lot of my friends do it! If you want to join water polo you have to be a good swimmer to be a really good!

  4. my best is on 50 free.  and i did okay on 200 medly.   join the swim team.  stay out of trouble.
