Swim cap question?

My eight year old is learning how to swim and her hair is always in the way so i bought her a swim cap. I had the coach put it on for her and everyday it leaves deep red marks on her and she gets bad headaches. The coach said that was the only size? What can i do to make it feel better?

There are normally adult size and kids size, only 2. You can try Lycra cap, or silicone cap.

The cap is probably to small for her. u can get different sizes. i suggest a silicone cap because they are more comfortable then latex ones. if u have a Different Strokes swim shop (thats where everyone goes where i live) or another swim shop they could probably help u.

I know exactly what you mean. The rubber caps i used to wear on swim team gave me a ring around my forehead, pulled at my hair when i put them on and when i moved my head, and gave me terrible headaches because they were too tight. I switched to cloth ones (actually, they are made of lycra, but whatever). None of those things happen anymore and i can swim comfortably.

make sure its silicone and not latex...latex tends to hurt more.

Stretch the cap out  or get a cloth one, and just see which is better for her.

huh well that really shouldnt happen. There is really no way to make swim caps more comfortable, but there are different sizes, contrary to what your coach said. If your 8yo has a lot of hair or a big head, she may just need the larger size.

and latex caps are usually stretchier than sillicone, but sillicone feels nicer imo, so try on both.

ohh yeah the guy below me has a good point. your daughter is only learning how to swim, so she just needs her hair out of her eyes, so a cloth cap would work great, since it feel more like a tight shower cap.
