im starting freshman year and i want to be on the high school swim team. im pretty worried if im able to compete and swim as fast.

if you are or have been on a swim team, can you give me any advice on what i should to prepare for it and what strokes need more attention.

i've learned butterfly, breaststroke, backstroke, frontstroke and not enough diving

For tennis:

  1. To prepare for swim team you should get in the pool over the summer and practice all of the strokes you've learned. If you have a swimmer friend, have them come with you to give you some pointers on your technique.

Another piece of advice, frontstroke is not a stroke. It's called freestyle (or more rarely, front crawl). That is the stroke that you will need to give the most attention to as you will most likely be using it at practice for most of your training.

You can work on other little things too. Like your start (dive) for freestyle, butterfly, and breaststroke. You can also practice the backstroke start (http://youtube.com/watch?v=0E5d0LNiEDQ ). If you don't have blocks to practice with, just use the side of the pool.

Other good things to learn are

how to finish a race for backstroke (http://youtube.com/watch?v=8nNhXIrC4Us&f... )

how to do a breaststroke pull out (http://youtube.com/watch?v=NraMOguOzMU&f... )

and how to do a flip-turn for backstroke and freestyle (http://youtube.com/watch?v=KtP8xgzm6do )
