  1. 1) the swim team is usually one season, spring season.

    2) Swimming is a coed sport, so girls and guys are together. It really depends on the coach if he wants the guys and girls to swim together...sometimes the coach will have the guys and girls in seperate lanes or mixed together.

    3) Yes, the swim caps, holds your hair back and in place, creating less drag. Therefore it is a good idea to wear swim caps. Everyone does, so there is no need to worry. You should wear them to try outs.

    4) it is not needed to run miles you can just stretch.

    Hope I helped! =D

  2. Ok, if it is a school team, than it is most likely just one season, and if it is the girls swim team, then it is probably in the fall.  Girls and guys probably don't practice together because the guys swim in a different season, usually the winter.  You will probably just stretch before you swim.  You should definfitely wear a cap because hair creates a lot of drag, which slows you don't, you want to be as aqua-dynamic as posssible, and hair creates resistance, so yeah you should wear a cap.  You wil see that you definetely want to wear a cap when you swim.  Swimming is a great sport, and if you want to be a good swimmer, you can be, you just have to be willing to work for it.  Good Luck.

  3. It looks to me like it all depends on the area as far as what season you swim.  I grew up in Cali and we did swimming/diving in the spring and waterpolo in the fall.  Our team was coed so we practiced together.  You might feel silly in a cap at first, but all the girls will be wearing them if they are serious at all about swimming.  Your hair even if pulled back creates a lot of drag and can make you work a lot harder to move thru the water.  Our team usually stretched on the deck, then we warmed up with like a 300yd swim.  I would think if you want to be a swimmer then you should swim to build swimmer muscles, and if you are a runner then run to build runners muscles.

I was a sophmore when I joined my swim team as a beginner.  I never swam on a team before and I had a blast.  I met some of my best friends on the team.

  4. hmm. for most high schools, swimming is a winter sport (at least this is the case in the north). so swimming only lasts for 1 season unless you do a club team outside of school (those usually last year round or all summer). from my experience, swimming is a co-ed sport so guys&girls practice together. yes, you are going to have to wear caps (if you're a girl/a guy with long hair). i would suggest wearing them when you try out, its just easier that way. no you dont have to run miles before you swim, you stretch on land and during your warm up in the water. you may want to run to get in shape but its not required.

  5. no its not year round, it will be seasons

    it depends on the school

    most likely separate

    yea most likly

you stretch and sometimes you might run

  6. i m on a team at a Y and girls and boys practice together, all girls and most boys must/do wear caps, and we just stretch before we swim.

there are 2 seasons, winter and summer.
