Ok, i am a 15 year old girl swimmer. My 100 free time right now is 1:10. Is this good, bad, or terrible? How can I improve this time? I am looking to get it down to about 55 secs, but i don't know how fast i can do that? thanks.

  1. You got plenty of time to work on it. 1:10 is perfectly average and will get you into the top 30. Top 16 would be aroudn 1:03 and less. 55 seconds you could make varsity.

Some helpful tips to tone your stroke would be:

beat your competitors off the dive and at the turn

Do Not breathe on your first stroke off the dive or wall when you turn.

Don't breath at all when you are finishing to the wall.

The less you breathe the faster you go.

Freestyle is mostly in the arms, so if you tone down the kicking you will have more energy to swim faster and you will be less tired.

Reach. With every stroke you take reach with your arm so are like almost rolling on your side.

    HIgh elbows!

When you are pulling, make sure you aren't pulling too much out to the sides. Towards the middle will allow you to get moree leverage.

Some Drills would be pulling with a pool buoy.

    Good LUCk!
