SwimMAC Carolina earns Men’s 400m freestyle relay gold medal: Day Two – USA Swimming Sectionals
SwimMAC Carolina team A earned the gold medal of the Men’s 400m freestyle relay, by proving their eligibility for the gold crown on the second day of the 2011 USA Swimming Sectionals in Athens, on Friday, July 15.
SwimMAC stayed prominently away from their competitors and won the title of the event in a time of 3 minutes and 27.37 seconds. They were followed by team A of Dynamo Swim Club, who settled on the podium for the silver medal, by finishing their swim in a
notable time of 3 minutes and 31.21 seconds. In the meantime, Mor Wolfpack Aquatics followed them on the finishing wall for the bronze medal, as the squad concluded their swims in a third fastest time of 3 minutes and 32.73 seconds.
The Carolina team included Ryan C Wilkinson, Nicholas J Brunelli, Eugene D Godsoe and Eric S Knight. Wilkinson was the first swimmer of the team, who completed his swim in 55.42 seconds. The race was continued by their second swimmer, Brunelli, who completed
his 100m swim in a time of 50.03 seconds.
Godsoe, who was the third racer of the event, finished his swim in a fastest time of 50.02 seconds. Knight, who was the final swimmer of the Carolina team, completed his swim in 51.90 seconds to post 3:27.37 minutes for the gold medal.
The fourth fastest spot was secured by Duke Aquatics, who clocked a time of 3 minutes and 35.53 seconds. They were followed by team B of Dynamo Swim Club, who earned the fifth fastest spot of the race by submitting an effort of 3 minutes and 36.36 seconds.
Lakeside Swim Team and North Carolina Aquatic Club were the sixth and seventh fastest swimmers on the finishing wall, with timings of 3:37.22 and 3:38.78 minutes, respectively. Stingrays Swimming was the last team to appear on the finishing wall, as they
produced a time of 3 minutes and 39.17 seconds.
The session concluded after the final scheduled event, while the arena acknowledged the remarkable efforts of all participants.
