Question:

Swimmers Hair?

I am a swimmer but have been wanting highlights. I swim every morning mon-thrus over the summer. I know that getting blond highlights (i already have blond hair) can tint or turn your hair green. If I do decide to get highlights then how can i keep my hair from turning green? Any tips or stories from past experiences would be great!

  1. i saw some people said wear a cap but if you are a swimmer than you should already know that that does not keep the water out. What you should do is wet your hair with clean water (you could jump in one of the showers in the locker room at your pool) so that your hair is saturated by clean water. This helps a lot but you should still buy swim shampoo to get the chlorine out immediately after you get out of the pool. You can try loreal swim shampoo for kids or more expensive brands like this:

(most swim shampoos will smell like oranges)

if you take the right steps than you should be fine. Good luck!

  2. wear a cap

  3. i am a swimmer. i swim 2-3 times a day i have naturaly blond hair and it doesnt turn green. get swim ultra. it smells like c**p but it works really well. they sell it @ swimer unlimited over by the old sams club.

  4. well, I am a natural blonde and I LOVE getting highlights, I have been told and found that simply wetting your hair before going swimming will keep the green color from appearing in your hair!

Hope this works for you like it did for me!
