Last night when I went to bed there was just a little tiny pain in my right ear, then I woke up and it hurts alot more

I havent gone swimming since Monday but i swam the before that too

the pain is only in 1 ear

its worse if I wiggle my ears,

or touch the lil thing thats like under the canal like if i push that down

also its worse if I pull on my ear lobe

and it hurts more if i put my hand behind my ear (like where glasses go) and push forward

I have never had any ear infections/problems before and Im 16

so what do you think this is??

is it swimmers ear?

how do I make it go away??

how long does it take??

thanks

  1. Rubbing alcohol only makes my "swimmers ear" worse. There are drops you can buy over the counter, but they are mostly rubbing alcohol too. I would try what she said about the rubbing alcohol and vinegar solution, but if it burns terribly you might want to see a doctor sooner rather than later. When I get these infections I end up looking like I have mumps (the side of my face and jaw swell up as does my ear canal.) When it gets bad they have to stick a wick in my ear to get the medicine in there. The doctor will prescribe antibiotic drops that don't hurt mixed with a steroid that will help decrease the swelling. Good luck! I hope it doesn't progress like mine always do.

  2. it definitley sounds like you have swimmer's ear. to make it go away you can put drops of rubbing alcohol mixed with vinegar to dry out the ear and kill bacteria. do this 2-3 times a day. it will probably take 5-7 days to clear up. if it doesn't get any better, go to the doctor and they can give you some solution to take care of it there.
