Swimmers impress arena at the Paris Open 2011: Day one - Recap
Giacomo Perez Dortona of France picked up the top seed in the Men’s 50m breast-stroke event with a winning time of 27.38 seconds and jumped to 4th spot in the international swimming rankings of the current year. Placed second in the 50m breast-stroke
was Brazilian swimmer, Felipe Silva with a time of 27.39 seconds, while Fabio Scozzoli of Italy wound up third in a time of 27.53 seconds.
In the Women’s 100m butterfly meet, Dayanara De Paula earned first place honours with a time of 58.84 seconds and improved to 25th in the international swimming rankings of this year. Capturing second in the corresponding meet was Russian swimmer,
Irina Bespalova with a time of 59.53 seconds and Sina Sutter of Germany rounded out the top three with a time of 59.65 seconds. Inge Dekker of Netherlands was surprisingly placed fourth in it with a time of 59.76 seconds.
Pawel Korzeniowski of Poland clinched the Men’s 200m butterfly race with a triumphant time of 1 minute and 56.44 seconds. Earlier, he posted the fastest time of 1 minute and 55.64 seconds in May, 2011. Meanwhile, Leonardo De Deus of Brazil and Nikolay Skvortsov
of Russia settled a tie in it with a time of 1 minute and 58.44 seconds.
In the Men’s 400m freestyle meet, Yannick Agnel of France earned first place honours with a time of 3 minutes and 45.31 seconds. Ous Mellouli of Tunisia wound up second in 3 minutes and 46.15 seconds for his 5th place in the world rankings, while
Mads Glaesner of Denmark rounded out the top three in 3 minutes and 51.71 seconds.
Dorothea Brandt of Germany posted a fastest time of 24.81 seconds to claim the Women’s 50m freestyle title, whereas, Femke Heemskerk of Netherlands was placed second in 25.08 seconds and Dekker wound up third in a time of 25.41 seconds.
Mellouli clinched the Men’s 400m IM crown with a winning time of 4 minutes and 19.36 seconds. Anthony Pannier of France snared silver in 4 minutes and 21.64 seconds and Carlos Vives Gomis of Spain settled third in a time of 4 minutes and 22.59 seconds.
Lara Grangeon of France took home the Women's 200m IM crown with a time of 2 minutes and 14.77 seconds, while Joanna Maranhao of Brazil wound up second in 2 minutes and 15.72 seconds. Jana Martinova of Russia settled third in 2 minutes and 17.41 seconds.
Earning first place honours in the Men’s 200m breast-stroke race was Spanish swimmer, Melquiades Alvarez Caraballo with a time of 2 minutes and 13.60 seconds, while Marco Koch of Germany finished second in 2 minutes and 13.73 seconds. Hugues Duboscq of France
settled third in 2 minutes and 14.72 seconds.
