Swimmers impress arena at the Paris Open 2011: Day two
Day two of the 2011 Paris Open meet ended in stunning style with some more impressive swims of Kim Vandenburg in the Women’s 200m butterfly, Ous Mellouli in the Men’s 1500m freestyle, Steffen deibler in the Men’s 100m butterfly, Sophie Edington in the Women’s
100m back-stroke, Lara Grangeon in the Women’s 400m IM and Nadja High in Women’s 200m breast-stroke events in Paris, France, on June 26.
Firstly, Kim Vandenburg of USA won the Women’s 200m butterfly event with a triumphant time of 2 minutes and 08.81 seconds and jumped into 19th place in the international swimming rankings of the current year.
Placed second in the corresponding meet was Italian swimmer, Alessia Polieri with a time of 2 minutes and 11.84 seconds, whereas, Joanna Maranhao of Brazil wound up third in a finishing time of 2 minutes and 12.57 seconds.
Secondly, Ous Mellouli of Tunisia captured the Men’s 1500m freestyle crown with a sterling time of 15 minutes and 07.56 seconds. Earlier, he posted a fastest time of 15 minutes and 01.65 seconds, back in February, 2011.
Retaining silver in the respective meet was French swimmer, Sebastien Rouault with a time of 15 minutes and 19.29 seconds, while Mads Glaesner of Denmark earned bronze title in 15 minutes and 21.98 seconds.  
In another exciting race, German swimmer, Steffen Deibler won the Men’s 100m butterfly meet with a winning time of 52.47 seconds, while Pawel Korzeniowski of Poland finished second in 52.89 seconds. Henrique Martins of Brazil earned third place honours with
a time of 53.43 seconds.
Next, Sophie Edington of Australia took home the Women’s 100m back-stroke crown with a record time of 1 minute and 00.78 seconds. Securing silver in the following race was French swimmer, Alexianne Castel with a time of 1 minute and 01.37 seconds and Jenny
Mensing of Germany rounded out the top three in 1 minute and 01.67 seconds.
In the Women’s 400m IM, Lara Grangeon of France earned first place honours with a time of 4 minutes and 45.23 seconds. Placed second was Russian swimmer, Jana Martinova with a time of 4 minutes and 46.71 seconds, while Beatriz Gomez Cortes of Spain settled
third in 4 minutes and 47.30 seconds.  
Meanwhile, Bradley Ally of Barbados won the Men’s 200m IM title with a time of 2 minutes and 00.65 seconds, while Nadja Higl of Serbia snared the Women’s 200m breast-stroke meet with a time of 2 minutes and 27.17 seconds. Lastly, Jeremy Stravius of France
won the Men’s 200m back-stroke title with a time of 1 minute and 58.49 seconds.
