Swimmers impress at the Santa Clara International Invitational 2011 – Swimming news
In an exciting event, Allison Schmitt of NBAC took home the Women’s 400m freestyle crown with a record time of 4 minutes and 08.25 seconds, and also improved to 22nd spot in the world rankings at the Santa Clara International Invitational 2011.
Snaring silver in the corresponding race was Bluefish’s swimmer, Elizabeth Beisel with a winning time of 4 minutes and 08.57 seconds, while Alexa Komarnycky of Canada secured bronze medal in time of 4 minutes and 09.16 seconds.
In the Women’s 100m butterfly race, Dana Vollmer of California snatched the top spot with a winning time of 58.22 seconds. Unfortunately, the Californian swimmer was not able to beat her previous time of 57.50 seconds, set in April, 2011.
Placed second in the Women’s 100m butterfly meet tonight was the Stanford’s swimmer, Elaine Breeden with a triumphant time of 58.84 seconds. The effort also moved her to 24th spot in the world rankings. Meanwhile, the Olympic champ of Australia,
Stephanie Rice settled third in the following meet with a time of 58.98 seconds.
In the Men’s 800m freestyle final, Ryan Cochrane of Canada topped the race with a sterling time of 7 minutes and 52.18 seconds and also improved to 4th place in the international swimming rankings. Fabulously, Ryan beat Chad La Tourette’s previous
record of 7 minutes and 53.56 seconds, set in 2009.
Sun Yang is still on the number one spot in the Men’s 800m freestyle race with a winning time of 7 minutes and 44.12 seconds, while Samuel Pizzetti retains second place with a time of 7 minutes and 49.79 seconds. Job Kienhuis secured third spot in time of
7 minutes and 51.92 seconds.
Securing second spot in the corresponding meet was Peter Vanderkaay with a winning time of 8 minutes and 00.87 seconds. Meanwhile, the Australian swimmer, Ryan Napolean wound up third in time of 8 minutes and 08.11 seconds in the following race.
Last, but not the least, Camryne Morris of North Baltimore took home the Women’s 1500m freestyle crown with a winning time of 16 minutes and 30.98 seconds. Capturing second spot in the meet was Amanda Richey of Boulder with a time of 16 minutes and 58.15
seconds, while Catherine Breed rounded out the top three in 16 minutes and 59.10 seconds.
