  1. Haha, you must care a about swimming. I know I do. 2 swimteams this summer. You rock for being brave enough to do that. You have a great dedication to swimming. See who will be laughing when you make it to states, nationals, maybe even the Olympics.

  2. They don't know a thing about REAL swimming.

  3. Well it's not fair that they are making fun of you for it, but you have to remember that kids will look for any reason to make fun of anyone. It's just the nature of a lot of people. I shave my body for swimming and sometimes when I am doing other sports too just because it feels better yet I will make fun of other guys for doing it at the same time. I will say something like nice legs sweetheart to one of my friends. It has nothing to do with being mean or anything, even though it probably bothers them. My friends make fun of me for wearing lycra shorts when I cycle. Most swimmers shave. I wouldn't let it get to you.

  4. Honestly, I think this depends on a couple factors...

    Firstly:

Does your swim team have a thing where ALL the guys on the swim team shave their whole bodies?  Some teams have a sort of team ritual/pact type thing where EVERYONE on the team "has" to do it.  If you are on one of those kinds of teams, then if anyone gives you c**p about it, just tell them that you had to, because everyone on the entire swim team had to (list the names of the 10-20 other guys who ALSO had to do it due to also being on your team, and then they'll realize you aren't just being some weirdo)

    Secondly,

If this is not the case, and shaving is entirely optional, I would heaviliy recommend against it.  Unless you are an EXTREMELY fast swimmer, it simply isn't going to reduce your time by enough to justify the amount of work involved in shaving your WHOLE body and dealing with the prickly ichiness when the hair starts to grow back and having to shave it off again and again and again and again.... etc.  So basically, unless you are swimming at or near the kinds of times that would have you breaking your all-time school record, or meet records, or something, then don't bother, because it'll only cut a very small amount off your race time.  Unless you are some olympic or world class swimmer who is at or very near his maximum peak, you would be better off spending all the time you waste shaving your body to try to reduce an incy wincy teeny weeny little bit of drag off your body doing weight training instead, at your home, to build up some more muscle strength.  This will be 10 times more useful than having a cleanly shaven body come race time.

Well, this is just my opinion, but I think it is both the most logical and practical answer I can give you.  Hope it helps.  Good luck.

  5. people dont get us swimmers

all the boys on my highschool team shave.

    just tell them

''well get your *** in the pool and see who were gunna make fun off"

    ;]

  6. It's a swim thing, they just don't get it.  Being a swimmer is very cool.

Anytime anyone is a little different and stands out they are likely to get picked on till about age 15, then you are likely to be admired, and by college then you are likely to have the mediocre be jealous

  7. don't let it get to you.

swimming is a great sport and there are things that every athlete needs to do in order to excel in their own sport.

    don't sweat it kid.

    swim fast!

  8. Just don't worry. They will make fun of something. Most swimmers don't shave down until the end of a taper though.

  9. that is not fair! they shuldnt make fun of u. i do that too, and im a swimmer. it helps a lot. they shuldnt make fun of u in the first place, tho. they'll shave sometime too. if they dont, then thats gross in the U.S. dont let it get to u, tho. if it helps, then keep doing it no matter wat they say.

  10. No it isnt fair.. Well it depends if your a really good swimmer then it shouldn't get to your head.
