So what im saying is, if the swimmers who swim in the heats, qualify their country into the finals of the relays but yet they do not get to participate in that final. And if that new team happens to win a medal, do the heat swimmers get medals as well?

  1. seeing the person's answer above me made me go "whew!" because in the american situation of having only 1 spot left on the team, i felt so bad for them.  i'm really glad to know that they all got medals, because they are all amazing!!! :)

  2. yes

  3. Yes, they all receive the medal that the team wins in the finals. For example, in the 4X100 freestyle relay, 7 swimmers received gold medals for the USA even though only 4 of them swam in the finals (Cullen Jones swam in both).
