Question:

Swimming Pool Liner Replacement help?

Ok, we have an older inground pool with a liner in it. So, recently the older liner ripped in several places, and we removed it from the pool. Now we have ordered a new liner which should be coming this week. So, my question is I have heard that it would be best if When we put the new liner in we should Quickly fill it up with water to make sure the liner stays in place. So, i have been trying to find someone to deliver bulk water to me to fill up my pool. So far i did not have much luck with this.

The several pool water delivery companies that i called are too expensive for us, (they want $375 for 9,000 gallons, and my pool is about 20,000 gallons).

So, this is too much for us, so i got an idea from this site to call my local water department, and the fire department, But they said that they don't deliver water.

So, since i read that several people used the fire department to fill their pools, I am desperate to do this too.

So, here is the question when i called the fire department i talked to Only 1 fire station, But do you think that maybe other stations might agree to do it?

Anyways, we really don't want to use our garden hose to fill up the pool in order to protect the new liner, So any suggestions, tips will be Very Appreciated. Thanks Everyone

By the way i live in Shelby twp, MI 48316

  1. what you hear about dumping water into the pool to keep the liner in place is true... the thing to understand is,   you only need 100 gallons or so on the bottom to keep the liner in place ( FILL 3 OR 4   30 gallon trash barrels).   So here's what to do....  when the liner is in place.. the main/drain is cut in.. the skimmers' are cut in, most of the coping is snapped in place, .. leave open a space at the top of the liner to put a shop vac hose into (between the liner and side... seal around the vac hose with duct/ tape ,  making it air tight.... OH BY THE WAY DID I MENTION THAT YOU HAVE A WATER DELIVERY SCHEDULED?  OWNING A POOL COST $$$.. (SORRY).. ANYWAY .. when the water is on it's way (even if it's 5000 gallons,  thats enough to get you started and in good shape) dump the 4 trash barrels of water (I would have them on cardboard so they don't leave dent marks on the bottom) OK ... the water is dumped.. the fire dept is on there way... TURN ON THE SHOP/VAC... THIS WILL SUCK THE LINER TO THE SIDES  AND SUCK ALL THE WRINKLES OUT .. NOW THE WATER TRUCK HAS ARRIVED .. THE SHOP VAC IS STILL RUNNING ..AND YOUR POOL IS GETTING FILLED WITH WATER.... 1/2 WAY IS ENOUGH, THE WEIGHT OF THE WATER WILL NOW KEEP THE LINER FROM MOVING AND YOU CAN TAKE A COUPLE OF DAYS TO FILL THE REST  WITH A GARDEN HOSE. .. (Then your well pump burns out because it ran for 2 days straight.  Did I mention .. owning a pool cost$$$... sorry again)) SERIOUSLY,, take your time.,spend a little money.. (MOST FIRE DEPT'S WILL ACCEPT A DONATION).... .. GOOD LUCK..
