I am a 12 year old competitive swimmer. I was wondering what the average time for a 200m free would be for my age.

Thanks, tell me if I am unclear.

Thanks!

  1. There isn't really an average time, but there are standardized times that tell you where you are in comparison to other swimmers your age: http://www.usaswimming.org/USASWeb/_Rain...

The way I always interpreted these was...

"B" time: Means that you're doing okay, but there's room for improvement. It can take a lot of work to get a "B" time sometimes.

"BB" time: You're doing pretty well. You've probably trained hard to get to this level and are very close to being truly competitive in your event.

"A" time: You're a good swimmer. You probably qualify for a lot of faster meets and you can beat a lot of people.

"AA" time: You're doing great. You're probably among the fastest kids in your state and can beat most people you race.

"AAA" time: You're amazing. You are usually winning events at the state level (or coming close to it) and you are among the fastest kids in your area of the county (your zone).

"AAAA": You've got real talent. Quad A times are generally considered national level speed or talent. You're often winning not only at the state and zone level, but competing at a national level.

  2. 2:37.00 should be about the average

  3. 2 : 39 would be pretty good

  4. My friend did the 50m free in 33 seconds when she was your age, so that would be about 2.2 minutes.

  5. i think it,s between 3minutes 6seconds
