Swimming after ear infection.....?

Question

My son is 14months old a TOTAL water baby! He swims every weekend at his Fathers house. On Sunday, he ruptured his eardrum (FIRST ear infection he has ever had). He is now on anti-biotics. I have 2 questions:

1- How long does it take for the eardrum to repair itself?

2- When is it safe for him to go swimming again?

I would be asking your doctor. He is in the best position to give you advice. You don't want to do the wrong thing and endanger your child's hearing!!

ouchie! Ask his doctor. It need s to heal completely before allowing him back in and invest in some ear plugs. I have water babies too! We live in AZ and its so HOT here we swim everyday for hours!
