  1. chances of getting struck: minimal

chance of dieing IF you get struck: close to definate

    its up to you.

  2. Are you nuts to get into a swimming pool or any type of body of water during a thunderstorm?  I hope when you guys get out, none of you are dead.

  3. "It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth (or press keys on your keyboard) and remove all doubt."

    or, Biblical,

"Even a fool, when he remains silent, may be counted wise."

  4. Stay away from bodies of water. If you are boating or swimming, get to land immediately!

It is definitely NOT safe to swim when lightning is in the area in any type of water. Even if current lightning is a few miles away, lightning can pop up in new parts of the storm very quickly. Salt water conducts electricity, which means that it can easily travel through the water toward you. The lightning current may spread out in all directions and dissipate within 20 feet or so, but don’t bet your life on how close the strike will be. As the highest object on the water, you may be the most likely target.
