  1. Alyssa went to a baby swim class at 6 months. She had more fun just playing in the pool with mom. The structure of the class we took seemed to be for older babies and she had this look on her face like "this is great but what are we doing?" It was basically just a song and dance in the pool kind of thing. Disappointing.

  2. I took my son at 6 months.  He loved his baths so I figured he would love the water.  He was a little nervous at first but then he loved it.  They didn't have us put the baby's head underwater which was fine with me but I think it was good to introduce him to the pool.  And it gave us something to do, just the two of us.

  3. I recently read that babies that take swimming lessons before the age of 12 months tend to get colds, viruses and just get sick more often.  I know tons of people do it before 12 months, but it's just something you may want to consider.

  4. It kinda depends where you live in Toronto...  Check your municipal pool.  I started swimming lessons when my son was 4 1/2 months old.  He loved it, it helped my so much with his mobility.  I lived in Burlington at that time and took them at Centenial Pool (I wouldn't recommend the pool though, it wasn't very kid-friendly).  Also, it was an activity that baby and daddy did together!

  5. My son is ten years old now, but he was in the pool at 72 hours old.

    He swims like a dolphin!

Check out your local parks and recreation classes, or the YMCA for newborn swimming lessons, and have a BALL with your son!

  6. i wouldnt... my baby got really really sick from a public pool... wait till hes older.. trust me!
