Whenever I start a new stroke in freestyle, am I suposed to be completely on my side? If not, is there ever a time where you are supposed to on your side?

  1. Not completely on your side but almost. After your streamline try to kick on your side for a bit in a longer race but other than that you want to be almost, but not all the way, on your side.

  2. not suppose to.

your legs shall not turn. only your torso. stand infront of a mirror, keep hands down, stand straight, and rotate shoulders from left to right. see how they go. try that then with your arms doing backstroke.

when you see its getting well, bent your body & d free. look in mirror how much you turn your body.you shall turn about 70-80 degrees.

  3. You won't be completely on your side from the waist down, but from the waist up you should be. You want to be able to reach as far forward with each hand as much as possible. The only way to do that is to roll your shoulders from side to side. Like in this video:

  4. no, the only time you are all the way on your side is when you are in your streamline off a flip turn.

  5. Well when you swim freestyle, every time you take a stroke your body has to roll a little bit so you can stretch your stroke. If you just stay on your stomach the whole time, then its harder to get through the water and its also a bit slower. So when you swim you dont have to be completely on your side but just rolling a bit.
