  1. stay mentaly focused. it seems that you were not prepared for your race mentally thus improvising while in the water. even though these meets arent as important as your BIG meet, you should still think about your race. i suggest that you say to yourself, "its 30 seconds of my life, i better just try my best for 30 DAM SECONDS"

also if  you just turned 13, thats a bronze time according to my league's standards. try to get it up to silver as the year goes on and maybe even a gold time!

    Bronze time: 34 sec

    silver: 30. 50

    gold: 27.78

    good luck

  2. first of all SUMMER MEETS DO MATTER!!! and secondly its okay so gain time every now and then.. honestly i was at a meet today and i gained 10 seconds in my 400 im don't sweat it

  3. Yes it is a good time for your age!! chances are the pool you were swimming in was a meter pool not a yard pool!! Don't stress about it your times change and it's no big deal!! You will get your correct time back soon!!!  Don't stress about it!!!!

  4. Be more serious with ur summer swimming. That is a great way to be ready for the season.

  5. Your original time is good, but the 49 seconds is... bad.

This happened to me two. I started swimming again this summer (i just do summer leagues) and my time had increased by about 10 seconds. To fix this I went swimming everyday, even extra after swim practice, I always asked my coaches for help, and I pushed myself to my limits. My time is back to normal and improving slowley. I would recommend this for you.

  6. Yes and no.

  7. first of all, were both pools in the same unit of measurement? if this pool was in meters and the others measure in yards then that could through off your times.

also you are young so it's normal for you to have "off" days, so just becasue you get a bad time once doesn't mean you're going to do it again. just keep up with your practices and you'll be fine

note: summer meets don't even count. no one looks at times from summer meets because they're just for fun! so just go out there and do your best!!!!!
