  1. Any speedo or TYR brand tanksuits are acceptable.

  2. Any competitive suit would do for practice. Check out http://www.swimoutlet.com.  They have the best prices.  The suit should fit small.  If you weigh 115-130 a size 26.  Around 100 a size 24.  up to 145 a 28, 160 a 30.  Most people like to go up one size from my suggestions.  You will need a latex cap (for your hair).  Get a couple they don't last long.  And a swimbag.  Goggle suggestions most people are comfortable with the TYR racetech or the speedo aquaspecs. Also, fyi--people don't wear fastskins in highschool and JO's (junior olympics) are not a very fast qualifying time to enter, I don't even believe you need an A time.

  3. One piece swimsuits.

    I find them s**y too.

  4. A good Speedo is necessary. In this sport, you do get what you pay for. I also swim for my High School and I wear a Speedo FastSkin FSII which is at an MSRP of  ~$400. However, thats only because I'm in the Junior Olympics.

  5. TYR makes great suits, that is the brand I wore throughout my 8 year swim team career. When you buy one it needs to fit pretty snug- a good way to measure if it is too loose is to pull the shoulder straps up and they should not go past your ears. Make sure to get an actual swimming suit, with the straps linked together in the back

  6. ask the swim coach which type (speedo, etc) to get
