  1. Yes, don't go in without any protection!  Good luck learning to swim :)

  2. You should start in a low end so you can feel more comfortable in the water and make your way into deeper water.

If you want to use arm floats, I'm sure you can.

  3. Arm floats are for toddlers and very young children. For young teens and adults, they are not necessary; infact they restrict you in doing your arm-strokes and you cant learn how to swim. Moreover, every one at a public pool, including the life-guards would be amused, and you would not concentrate on your swimming!

Just note these facts and soon you'll gain confidence and start to swim::

    >>Every human body is able to float, no matter how skinny he

         or she is.

    >>As long as you execute your arm-strokes and kicks

accurately, with proper breathing, you will learn fast and

          swim without effort.

    >> Initially, get used to holding your breath for 15-30secs

with your face in the water, and breathe out slowly, when

          you need to.

    >> Do a frontal float, face down, with hands and legs stretched out for as long as your breath holds.

    >> The rest is easy, as all it needs is a little effort of correct

arm or legs movements, to move the body. This can be

proven by getting someone to use his finger to push

against your foot and observing your body moving  effortlessly through the water.

Try the above steps, guaranteed to work! Happy and successful swimming; with enough passion, you can swim within a few sessions! Good luck!
