Question:

Swimming in pools hazard for your health?

What are your thoughts about swimming in a chlorine-chemical treated pool? Do you feel it goes through your pores and into your body? Swallowing accidently, opening your eyes underwater, is this hazardous to your body?

What kind of suntan lotion do you use? My friend told me anything you can't consume, you shouldn't put it on your body.

  1. Actually, I have to agree with your friend.  It's true you shouldn't put anything on your skin that you cannot consume.  Whatever goes in your pores goes directly into your bloodstream.  Unfortunately in this day and age, you have to choose between two bad things.  The sun is no longer safe exactly.  I wouldn't stay out in the sun with no sunblock.  But it's a good idea to use the ones that are made for babies.  They're a little more natural I suppose.

About swimming pools, I don't know, I was never a fan.  I always felt dizzy and nauseous after being in a pool, that should tell you something eh?  And the smell isn't exactly pleasant.

  2. Normal chlorine pool levels are 1-3parts per million with a max of 5.  Chlorine cannot be sensed below 15ppm.

What you could get by swimming without chlorine is far more dangerous than a normal chlorinated pool.  Swallowing water and opening your eyes underwater will be uneventful.
