Question:

Swimming in the Sea - On my Period?

Ok, I have my period and tomorrow I'm going swimming in the sea.

I've been wearing tampons for a while now (about 9 months plus roughly) but when I come back out from the sea, how many hours will the tampon be ok for if there are no toilets near by for me to change?

Will the tampon soak up so much water that it will drop out? Will I be able to feel the wetness from it?

Ty!

  1. When you come out of swimming, I'd go ahead and change it then. Since you are submerged in water, the tampon can soak up a little of the sea water...never so much that it will drop out (that doesn't happen) but you might notice it feeling a little "fuller" than before you got in the water. You might as well change it when you're done swimming since the sea water it collects may contain something that would be harmful to your body, and a tampon holds that inside your body. It's just better to be safe than to risk an infection.

  2. You will be fine. I go swimming all the time with tampons in. You will not notice the difference nor will anyone else. Just remember to get to a bathroom as soon as you can so you don't get any type of infections, but it's okay to even be out of the water 4 hours after and still not change your tampon. Have fun!

  3. Just make sure it's no longer then 8 hours :)

And no, the tampon will not soak up so much water that it will drop out. and no again. ahah.
