I am looking for an inexpensive above ground swimming pool. One that is about 3-4 feet deep and 15-18 feet in diameter. Does anyone have any recomendations or know of a pool that I should stay away from.

Thank you for any advice!!

  1. Well... Most pools are going to be about 4 foot deep.  18 Feet in diameter is on the smaller side <most go for 22-24 feet on average>....  The best thing you can do, is go to a swimming Pool showroom, or a Pool Company that specializes with Above Ground Pools, and look to see what they have.  Most companies have pools set up in their building so that you can see the pools.  Don't jump at the first price you see though.  Check with 2 or 3 places if you have them in the area.  You might be able to get yourself a better price.  Also remember too that you will have to have some things done for your pool.

As for recommendations or pools you should stay away from, there really isnt anything here that i can give you.  For the most part, the equipment is usually made by a secondary company, In otherwords, the pool is made by brand X but the equipment, might be from Brand C.  So regardless of which pool you decide you want to buy the equipment really isnt of issue.  The only one thing i will tell you is that Based on the percentages of which Pool filter systems filter the water, Diatomaceous Earth is the best, followed by Sand Filters, and Cartridge filters.  So if you have your choice of filter systems, Keep that in mind.

As for your Pool.  Get a pool that you like, and one that you feel is comfortable for you and your yard.

Just remember when Pricing the pools, Most pool prices do not include installation, and most places usually have a company or different companies install the pool for them on a contracted basis.  So.. keep that in mind.

If you are really looking for inexpensive, you could try and go with one of the Intex brand pool systems, these pools unlike the regular above ground pools i described above, do have their own little filter systems which are included with the price.  The downfall to these systems are that depending on the style you go with, you will have to set up and remove the pool each year.  Some of the smaller intex pools have an Air Ring at the top of the pool, which rises as you fill the pool.  This is about as cheap as it gets, however if you want a pool that is going to last long term, you would be better off with installing an above ground pool.

Hope this information helps you in your decision.

  2. I just have advice on how to take care of it. Use clorine, but not to much! Buy a pool chemical checking kit, and use it monthly. Dont let sharp clawed creatures into the pool, and never allow drinks. (unless you dont care about pop, juice, ext..ext..that destroys your pool!) NEVER, I REPEAT NEVER!!!! purposly drink the water, you can get sick, really, Really, REALLY BAD!!! I wouldnt allow kids un-supervised in the pool, but thats just my opinion. And if you let a dog in for a second, make sure it doesnt shed badly, because the pool will fill with dog hair and stuff........EEEWWWYY!!!! And  be careful to check your liner and make sure it doesnt have a whole, it causes pool leackage........Oh, and make sure to have a skimmer to get rid of bugs and stuff!!!!

    Hope it helps!!!!!!

The above link is what you may be looking for. There is a 16' available also. Use it as a comparison for price range and what You would want for a pool.

To set an above ground up though you need  sandy bottom; configure in the price for that. Sand could be purchase a bit cheaper from places selling ready to pour concrete.

Look for a store in your area in the phone book. Visit their store and ask about chloronators to help keep pool clean. You might ask what not to have in an above ground also.

If there is one thing I wouldn't do is build a deck for the above displayed link.

  4. the one we have is next to the top of the line go to your local dealer and ask them to show you or just look around  dont go with the 3nd  rate tho they suck
