I am putting in a pool in backyard, Large one for adults. Do I need to top the ground with fine sand, before I install the pool, should I dig a round deep hole to place it in, and what is the best method to make sure it is level? what is the grade of sand that I should use? Thank-You

  1. My pool isn't out of the box yet. I have to wait for the flood waters to recede to put in a pool. It came with an instructional DVD, which I haven't watched yet either.

A tool called a "transit" is used to make sure the ground is level. I understand that they can be rented. (A friend of mine is a construction worker, and he already has one. He's also going to do the leveling for me.)

Also, another friend of mine works at an excavating company. He said that you need what is called "mortar" sand, the kind they use for mixing concrete. It doesn't have as many lumps, or rocks mixed in.

Anyway, that's all I know for now. Sorry I couldn't have been more help, but I'm still waiting to get mine set up, too.

  2. Yes, get it level. You can do this with a 2x4, to use as a skreet.

Use a bubble level on top of the board.

We always use play sand from Home Depot.

Use a "nut grass killer" first to get rid of weeds & grass.

I have seengrass penetrate a liner.

We also use a closed cell foam underlayment.

    Ours is called "Happy Bottom".

Use it along with pool cove to get a nice fit.

They both can be found at various places online.

One place is Leslie's. Just goggle the two terms.
