Swimming pools in China? Okay or not?

I am traveling to China this summer (yay!!) and I know that the water over there is not good and I shouldn't drink it or use any of it for washing and stuff. However, is it the same with swimming pools? I am staying in American Hotels, but it's still in China so i'm guessing the water is still bad? Does anyone know if I can swim in the pools in China? Thanks!

There is chlorine mixed to water in China's public pools. But some people who don't care the environment continuously spits to the pool their saliva, maybe also their PHLEGM! Be careful not to drink water in public pools. Maybe the spitter there has an infectious disease. Or lets just say not to swim there, because my relative developed skin rash after he swam in a public pool.
