Swimming??

Hey everyone,

I'm 11 years old and I wanna learn how to swim. I am scared to be in the water because I can't balance myself when I'm swimming and all of the moves require balance, so I just sink. I don't know how to float without the floater thingy. Last year I went to swim classes and when the course was over I didn't go back and I wanna start again, it looks fun! Please give some suggestions to help me to overcome my fear of being in the water and that will help me be a great swimmer in no time!

Thanks

  1. While you're in the pool, try to kick a lot, because it helps you balance.  Before you try to float on your back, try floating on your stomach.

  2. you just have to believe that you can do it. i would suggest a private swim lesson so then you get all of the instructors attention to help you come over this "fear" good luck!

  3. im 11 and i have been on a swim team scince i was 3

so basically ive never been scared of water

the first thing i would suggest doing is learning to trust the water

andi know that sounds really star warsy but its true

just lay on your back in the water and try to float it is really easy and if your really scared then first have someone holding you up and then slowly let you float by your self

try not to swim with the floaty thing as much as possible and remeber there is always a life guard in case something happens

also try holding your breath under water as long as possible try it over and over until you can do it for about 20 secs (depending how good you are)

and remeber learning how to swim dosnt come in your sleep you have to work at it!
